Listening to the Ether, a sonic intervention of Dan Flavin’s cornered light sculptures | intermedia album | 2024
In June 2024, Serena Stucke & Dan Tesene, of Testu Collective, were commissioned by Monira Foundation to create a sonic intervention for Dan Flavin’s light sculptures at Mana Contemporary.
The exhibition at Mana is composed of 12 cornered fluorescent light sculptures, each emitting unique patterns of electromagnetic waves, invisible and inaudible phenomena that permeate our environment. Serena Stucke and Dan Tesene utilized a series of EMF pick-up coils to reveal a hidden infrastructure of wave patterns from Flavin’s works. Spatial modulation of these recordings in the sound field created a cinematic, multi-channel sound experience that brought new dimensions to Flavin’s light installations.
Immerse yourself in the sonic landscapes of Dan Flavin’s iconic light sculptures.
*For optimal listening, stereo speakers or headphones are recommended.*
